I got a forwarded message posted by a girl on her blog in Kesennuma, a hard-hit city by the earthquake. It's devastating. Here is my translation.


The city is in big flames.


It's been more than a day since the earthquake but there hasn't been any rescue yet. The only people dealing with saving lives are local firefighters.


All lifelines, water, gas and electricity, have stopped working.


Because no broadcast is available now, people in Kesennuma have no way of knowing what a situation there are in.


Cell phones don't work.


It's snowing now.
Winds from the sea are cold even in summer.

There are people, who have gotten buried under collapsed buildings or houses.
There are people, like my mother, who have gotten stuck in a house since the sea water encircled it.


The flames are still spreading.


Please help us, as quickly as you can!


There is a tiny island called Ohshima near Kesennuma.


It is a remote island and there is no roads that connect Kesennuma and the island.
Only a ferry connects the two places on a regular basis.


Ohshima has been set ablaze, too.
People there don't have any places to escape.
